GST took part in the IV Meeting of the Space Agencies of the Latin American and Caribbean Countries members of IILA

Gran Sasso Tech participated in the 4th Meeting of the Space Agencies of Latin American and Caribbean Countries members of IILA held at the ASI headquarters in Rome from 3 to 6 June.

Organized by the Italian Space Agency, in collaboration with the Italian-Latin American Institute (IILA), the initiative is part of the joint commitment of Italy and Latin America to promote international cooperation in the spacial sector as a lever for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
A four-day program was dedicated to the theme “Cooperating to implement concrete actions and tackle shared challenges.”
Alongside discussion panels and thematic sessions, the agenda also included technical visits to the headquarters of Thales Alenia Space Italia and AVIO. Participants also carried out site inspections at key strategic infrastructures in the space sector, including the Telespazio Fucino Space Centre (AQ).

Gran Sasso Tech has been invited to take part in the panel discussion entitled “Development and Implementation of Capacity-Building Programs that Respond to the Operational Needs of States.”
The session, moderated by Maria Chiara Noto – Head of the Office for International Cooperation and Space Diplomacy, IV Directorate for International Affairs at the Italian Space Agency (ASI) – and it focused on the strengthening of national and regional capacities in satellite applications, with particular attention to the implementation and development of training programs aimed at the assimilation of new technologies designed to improve the quality of life of beneficiary populations.

The event showed how space diplomacy can lead to tangible initiatives that promote sustainable and inclusive growth in Latin American and Caribbean countries. The meeting originates from the growing awareness of the strategic importance of space activities and projects for Latin America and Italy.
